Dear Parents and Carers,
WELCOME BACK EVERYONE
I hope you have all had an enjoyable and relaxing summer break and that your batteries are well and truly charged for the new school year!
There are many exciting things organised for all the children to learn, experience and enjoy this term and so, in order to create a safe, positive and organised environment for your children to flourish, I have included in this first newsletter a few reminders for parents. The procedures to be followed are essential in helping the school run smoothly and efficiently. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
HARVEST SERVICE
Wednesday 7th October
Our Harvest festival this year will be held on Wednesday 7th October at 10am on our new extended playing field. All parents are most welcome to join us for the service. We hope you will stay and enjoy coffee and cakes with us at 11am in the school hall. Further details will follow nearer the time.
SMILEY AND SHARING ASSEMBLIES
All parents are welcome to join us for these assemblies where we celebrate and share in the achievements and successes of your children.
Tuesday 13th October 2.45pm led by Owls' Class
Tuesday 20th October 2.45pm led by Eagles' Class
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
Please find attached the list of after school clubs available this term. Please forward your booking slip and club fees as soon as possible. If a club is over subscribed places will be decided by drawing names from a hat and unsuccessful children will get priority places next term.
Children in receipt of free school meals are eligible for free after school clubs.
CLASS INFORMATION
We are pleased to attach Class Information for Eagles and Owls. Sparrows will follow shortly.
PIPs (Parents in Partnership) Slips!
We are constantly looking for ways of improving our lines of communication with you to enhance your children's education at Rode. As a result we have decided to introduce PIP slips for Owls' and Eagles' Classes. Sparrows' Class will continue to use their PIP books. PIP slips will work like this; if you wish to make an appointment with us or get a message to us and don't manage to talk to us in the morning in the playground (all teachers are available to chat from 8.50am-8.55am), please take a slip from outside the office, write your message and leave it in the folder on the appropriate classroom doors. We will ensure these are dealt with asap every day. We would appreciate it if parents and carers could refrain from entering classrooms when children are settling for the start of the day as teachers need to give the children their 100% attention. Teachers are also available at the end of the day if you want to have a chat.
THE BIG EVENT
Children currently in Years 2 and 3 have been invited to take part in a FCLP celebration event showcasing work of the community learning partnership. The children will perform their Space Dance from our school's 'Dream All About It' performance last term. The event will take place at the Cheese and Grain on 22nd September and our performance will be during the afternoon. The children will be transported by coach. Please complete the attached PDF: permission slip and return as soon as possible.
GET FIT FRIDAYS
starting Friday 18th September
Children are asked to come to school in navy tracksuit/jogging bottoms and trainers with their normal school t-shirt and school sweatshirt on Fridays. We are planning an exciting range of sporting activities on Fridays.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
This years elections will take place in the week beginning 14th September. If your child is interested in becoming a councillor please encourage them to write a short statement that they can read to their class explaining why they would make an ideal councillor.
