Dear Parents and Carers,

WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!

A special welcome to our new Reception children and their families. Also to Sarah and Rebecca Hyde-Price, Annie Hawthorne and Callum Forrester all new pupils, a warm welcome to you and your families.

Arts Week
17th – 28th September
The stimulus for all activities during Artsweek will be the stunning painting ‘An Autumn Landscape with a view of Het Steen’ by Rubens – more details about this exciting project to follow.

Open Day
Tuesday 2nd October
We are delighted that we have an increase in Reception places for September 08. To help prospective parents wishing to apply for one of our 24 places we will be holding an Open Day on Tuesday 2nd October. Parents should contact the office to book tours of the school.

Harvest Service
Friday 5th October
Our Harvest Service will be held in the Chapel at 9.30am. All parents are most welcome to join us for the service.

Arts Week Exhibition
Friday 5th October
Following the Harvest Service the school will be hosting an Exhibition of the Children’s Art Work. Parents are invited to enjoy a cup of tea and visit the exhibition at any time during the morning.

Home School Agreement
We recognise the value of working in partnership with parents. We are therefore pleased to attach our ‘home school agreement’. Please read it with your child/ren, sign and return to the school office. Reception and new children will already have received a copy of the agreement in their Induction Pack.

The Book People
A range of children’s books are on display outside the Head’s Office. The books are available to purchase at discounted prices and will be delivered on 12th September.
The school receives one free book for every 10 purchased.

Class Information and Termly Topic Plans
We are pleased to attach Class Information and topic plans that we hope will be helpful to you. More information for Eagles Class to follow.

Just a few reminders
Start time: Children should arrive between 8.50am and 9.00am, On arrival, they should go straight to class. Late arrivals should report to the office to be marked as present in the register and the gate to the playground will be locked at 9.00am.

Medical forms: If your child needs to take any medicines during the course of the day, you are required to complete a ‘Request to administer medication Form’ which is located in the folder tray outside the school office.

Labelling: Please ensure that all uniform, daps etc are labelled clearly with your child’s name.

Jewellery: Please make sure for health and safety reasons that your child does not wear jewellery, except a watch and stud earings where necessary. Please also ensure long hair is tied back at all times.

Absence from School: If your child is not present at school due to illness or medical appointment please inform the office before
9.30am. It is our policy to contact you if your child is absent and we have not received a message from you confirming the absence.

Holiday absence in Term Time: The government and Somerset Local Authority are concerned at the amount of education lost to holidays in term time. It is Local Authority policy to recommend that holidays are not authorised during term-time unless in exceptional circumstances.
If you wish to apply to take you child out of school for a holiday during term time you must apply, in advance, using the holiday
request form located in the folder tray outside the school office. If you take your child on unauthorised holiday, this could, in certain circumstances, lead to you receiving a Penalty Notice and having to pay a fine.

Run for the future 07
Alice Dymond’s family are taking part in Bristol Rotary’s family fun run. A 5 km walk, jog or run raising funds for prostate cancer research. More details on the table outside the office.
