Our Governing Body is a voluntary group of elected or nominated people, whose primary duty is the safety, education and well-being of the children in our school. It comprises 12 members, the Head teacher, a senior teacher plus ten members of the local community. Somerset Education Authority, the Methodist Church, the Local Authority and parents appoint these members, from a range of backgrounds. Governors work as part of the Schools Management Team on a four-year tenure of office. We also currently have 2 Associate governors who provide links with FORS and Rode Preschool.
The Head teacher is responsible for the day-to-day educational direction of the school, whilst the Governors are involved in long-term policy decisions. The role of Governors is now far reaching with wide ranging responsibilities. They have a specific responsibility for the financial management of the school under the Education Reform Act 1988 and for Local Management of Schools.
