The walled Story Gardens have always been designed as an area where children can come at playtime, if they need a little peace and quiet. There is a grass mound here, which has a seat cut into one side, where the children tend to sit. Interestingly, this walled garden used to be a small cottage, and some sections of the walls were once the walls of the actual cottage.

On sunny days in the summer, teachers sometimes take small groups of children to this garden, where they can sit and listen to a story - hence the name 'Story Garden'.

At the back and side are some long borders, where the children tend to grow their own sunflowers from seed. These have also been planted with yellow and orange flowers, which blend nicely with the sunflowers when they are in full bloom.

The reception classroom have a small vegetable garden here as well, where they water and tend plants such as strawberries, tomatoes, lettuce, beans and radishes. A miniature raised Alpine garden is planned in this area shortly - watch this space!
