PDF: Rode School Prospectus 2009
We have a large number of educational visits throughout the year, often involving the whole school. These visits enrich the curriculum and the children learn a lot from them. There are strict LEA rules for the supervision and planning of these outings. Written details of these trips are sent home to parents via the children's book bags and a parent / carer consent form for an external visit needs to be completed, signed and returned to the school office in order for the children to participate.
To cover the costs of activities or trips that take place during school hours, the school requests a stated voluntary contribution from parents / carers for their children. Payments may be made by cash or cheque and should be placed in a sealed envelope with the child's name, class and activity written on it, before it is returned to the school office.
Children of parents / carers who are unable or unwilling to pay the voluntary contribution will not be discriminated against and will be entitled to participate fully in the school visit or activity. However, should insufficient voluntary contributions be made, trips may unfortunately have to be cancelled due to lack of funds. Often our school trips are subsidised thanks to the fundraising activities of Friends of Rode School (FORS). This helps to keep the costs of our educational visits to a minimum.
We also invite many people into school to work with the children - actors, artists, musicians, dancers - and parents - to use their talents and expertise.
