Nearby Attractions and School Holiday Ideas

Close to Rode you will find a wealth of nearby attractions, ranging from safari parks and caves, to World Heritage Sites and Georgian cities - even the beaches of Weston Super Mare and Bournemouth are both within driving distance. Attractions Nearby Rode School: Longleat
Longleat lies on the outskirts of Warminster and is best known for its safari park, where you will find two prides of lions, along with tigers, wolves, giraffes, camels, zebras, monkeys and much more. You can buy a passport ticket, which will allow you to return to the other attractions throughout the season. These include a pets corner, train ride, huge maze, seal safari boats and the excellent adventure castle. The new splash pad is especially popular on sunny days and makes for a cheap day out if you bring a picnic.

Attractions Nearby Rode School: Brokerswood
Brokerswood is sited especially close to Rode School and features a number of woodland trails, which are punctuated with play areas for children - look out for the death slides. Good picnic facilities can be found next to the lake and you can also hire barbecues here.

We've been to Stourhead and can thoroughly recommend it! The children will love to feed the ducks and visit the grotto. Several pathways lead you around this large lake and the beautiful Capability Brown landscape. Next to Stourhead House is a large lawn, which is a good place for picnic and run a around.

Stonehenge is one of the most famous landmarks in the whole of the United Kingdom and each year is visited by literally hundreds of thousands of tourists. Located on the Salisbury Plains, we are lucky enough to have Stonehenge virtually on our doorstep. Many people come hear at the end of the day, not only to marvel at the stones, but also to enjoy to take photographs of the sunset through the henge itself.

Bath is a beautiful Georgian city, full of interest for children. Rode School has visited the Roman Baths, which are one of the city's true highlights, dating back some 2,000 years. Guided tours of the Roman Baths are available. Nearby, you will also find a number of other attractions, such as guided bus tours, boating, both the Egg Theatre and the Theatre Royal, the Royal Crescent and the Victoria Art Gallery, which stands next to Pulteney Bridge and features free admission. Bristol is a great city for children, being full of museums and the relatively new 'At Bristol' complex - the perfect family attraction, complete with planetarium. Located in the Clifton area of Bristol and near to the city's iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol Zoo has enough to keep you occupied for most of the day. You can expect to see lions, monkeys, exotic birds, aquariums, small mammals and a superb penguin enclosure, with underwater tunnels and huge viewing windows.

Frome is an especially historic city, founded at the end of the 7th century. Although Frome isn't brimming with attractions for children, the cinema usually shows the latest children's films most afternoons during school holidays and at the weekends. Victoria Park has a reasonable playground area, while other attractions include the Merlin Theatre, the Frome Leisure Centre and Junction 21.
